Naval Academy wedding in Annapolis, Maryland

Few things are better than a gorgeous Naval Academy wedding in Annapolis! Naval Academy weddings are reserved for those who have attended the Naval Academy or whose parents have graduated. I lived in Annapolis for almost ten years and during that time, I photographed many Naval Academy weddings. I continue to enjoy photographing weddings at the Naval Academy year after year.

Naval Academy weddings typically take place at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) chapel, located on campus or "on the yard". The chapel is a stunningly beautiful building, designed by Ernest Flagg and dedicated in 1908. The original chapel seated fewer people, so it was expanded in 1940 to increase its capacity to 2500. Up until 1972, it was required for midshipmen to attend services at the chapel.

The striking dome is constructed from copper, and is 193 feet above the altar area. In 2009 the Chapel underwent an extensive renovation and restoration project to replace the floors and fix deteriorating elements of the building. It reopened and looks absolutely beautiful, and will for many decades to come.

The long aisle at the Naval Academy chapel makes quite an entrance, and your guests will absolutely love watching you exit from the chapel as they wait on the steps. A Naval Academy sword exit is an especially photogenic tradition!

I would absolutely love to chat with you about your Naval Academy wedding! Please reach out to me so that I can talk with you about the details of your wedding and how I can work with you to photograph the important moments!
