This lovely summer wedding took place at a Catholic church in downtown Washington, DC. I photographed the bride's sister's wedding several years ago, and it was such an honor to be a part of another family event.
We decided that because the bride and groom had chosen Union Station for their wedding reception, we would take portraits on Capitol Hill. In spite of a lot of construction going on in the parks around the Capitol building, I was able to identify some great places to take couples portraits.
I love the part of the wedding day where we have time to take portraits of the newly married couple. It allows me to be creative, and I love that I have the opportunity to be the first person to photograph them as a married couple. I enjoy finding unique spaces and light that allow me to create portraits that are unique for every client.
