This Hotel Monaco wedding was a beautiful fall event. I really enjoyed working with M&L to photograph their day!
Hotel Monaco is located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, DC. The hotel is located in a historic building which used to be a post office. It has beautiful architecture, especially the arches and the high ceilings which are an integral part of the ballroom where weddings take place.
We started the day in M's suite where she was getting ready. Then we headed outside into the lovely courtyard at Hotel Monaco so that we could prepare for the couple's first look! They opted to see each other in advance of the ceremony so that they'd have an opportunity to take some beautiful photographs before the festivities.
M&L were hilarious during their first look, making faces at each other and basically making everyone else laugh - including me!
Then we headed off to take some wedding portraits. There are so many pretty places near Hotel Monaco to take wedding photos, and we had about 45 minutes to spend. Fortunately it was a sunny September day and there was plenty of great light!
After we finished portraits, we headed back to meet up with M&L's family for family portraits! We finished up and had a little bit of downtime before the ceremony was scheduled to start.
Their ceremony took place in the ballroom, under the beautiful arched skylight. The natural light provided a beautiful accent to the ceremony. After the ceremony, they joined friends and family for cocktails while the staff at Hotel Monaco changed the room over from ceremony to reception.
Once cocktail hour was over, they were introduced back into the ballroom for their first dance.
Dinner and dancing followed, and everyone had a fantastic time!
