I photographed this Hay Adams Hotel wedding on a beautiful fall day. The bride and groom started the day by getting ready at the Hay Adams, for convenience, and also because it's such a lovely hotel.
After the getting ready, this couple decided to see each other prior to the ceremony so that they could complete all of their wedding portraits before leaving for Dahlgren Chapel at Georgetown for their ceremony. We took some photos downstairs at the Hay Adams Hotel, and then headed outside for images of the bridal party and families.
Once we finished, we headed over to Georgetown for some additional wedding portraits. Little did I know that it was actually homecoming weekend - so driving into the Georgetown Campus was pretty crowded! Luckily, the bride and groom had allowed plenty of time for us to get there for their ceremony. Dahlgren Chapel is a beautiful, historic building and I have photographed many wedding ceremonies there.
After they exchanged vows at the Dahlgren Chapel, we headed back to the Hay Adams Hotel for their wedding reception. I had no idea what their decor would be and I was absolutely thrilled and impressed when I saw what they'd done in the Top of the Hay space. Not only had they focused on beautiful flowers and candlelight, but they also had their decor company hang individual candles in glass from the ceiling. It created a beautiful, romantic wedding reception at the Hay Adams hotel.
Guests were absolutely obsessed with the beautiful view of the White House and other monuments that they could see from the outdoor balcony which is part of the event space at Top of the Hay.
